You asked ...We did it! Our new Memory Foam seat in a LARGER SEAT size...measures 21" Wide x 19 1/2" Deep
...seat depth adjusts with a seatslider**.
The Memory Foam Seat is just like those hundred dollar pillows as advertised on TV. We use a foam that is equal to and/or exceeds Tempur-Pedic®, Backsavers®, Relax the Back Stores®, Brookstone®, and Sharper Image®.
Our Large Size Memory Foam Seat is the most popular choice. We feature this size in our MVP Extreme Leather chairs.. If you like a firm sitting chair seat, then this is for you; commonly referred to as sitting in a Volvo. Ideal for long hours of sitting as the isotonic foam retains its’ memory, and resists pushing up at the sitting bones. It distributes body weight evenly over the contact area, helping to eliminate pressure points and ease blood circulation. Upon vacancy the memory foam reverts to its’ original molded shape.
ENERGY ABSORBING FOAM (Memory Foam)
Energy Absorbing Foam is a product, which was designed to provide long term seating comfort. The material creates a high comfort factor by providing an even distribution of support across the entire seating area without putting unwanted return pressure on typical pressure points of the user. EA foam actually drops away from the high-pressure areas to eliminate pinching or constriction of the blood vessels. By doing this, fatigue from long term sitting is reduced. The user doesn’t ride on top of the seat but actually sits into the cushion. When movement takes place the cushion conforms to the users position providing a perfect base for movement. After the user leaves the seat, EA foam returns to its original form ready for another user, hence the term Memory Foam. EA foam has an incredible high ability to resist compression set.
Another factor that affects seating comfort is body shear. When seated, the fat and tissue of the user’s body is not under compression but is placed into shear. Like a water balloon, the body is pushed out to the sides creating discomfort.
EA foam molds to the user’s contours eliminating buttock distortion which causes the shear force when sitting. Standard high resilient foam, (such as the foam used by manufacturers who use slab molded foam...unlike, and not to be confused with Champion's Injected-Molded foam) acts like a trampoline putting the highest return force on the lowest part of the buttock. This causes the buttock to flatten out when sitting, and is the primary reson the seated person feels discomfort after a short period of sitting. The less the buttock flattens the lower the shear pressure created on the body.
Note: Champion Seating's standard foam is high resilient molded & contoured foam (not the inexpensive slab foam), which is over seven times more expensive to produce than standard foam seats (slab foam/free rise foam) supplied by others in the seating industry. Additionally the MVP, All Star and Rookie chairs have a molded and contoured seat was specifically designed to eliminate body shear, and receives high marks about its’ ergonomic effectiveness, and it is a solid structure unlike other manufactures who cut and glue pieces to create a contoured look; more for the appearance of a sales factor as opposed to good ergonomics and comfort.
The low impact resilience of EA foam provides excellent energy absorbing values. We like to say EA foam has puck-stopping power. This means when a person drops into a seat the foam doesn’t immediately bottom out and then bounce back, which is how high resilient foam works. The energy of the person is dissipated into the foam cushioning the shock. With normal high resilient foam that shock would be transferred back to the user. This feature can be important when a person doesn’t have strong control over the muscles in their legs.
Longevity is another key feature of EA foam. EA foam is a molded product. Molded foam has superior properties to that of free rise foam. Other existing foams on the market with similar qualities do not have the physical properties of the EA foam system. These other foams are also only available in different degrees of firmness. EA foam has been demonstrated unbelievably good test results for the most common tests performed on foam. This means the product will perform well in the field and not fail under rugged use.
