Adjusting the Chair

Seat Width
No more or less than two to three inches between your legs and the chair arms or edge.
Seat Depth
No more or less than two to three inches from the seat pan front to the back of your knees.

Knees
At about hip level - may be slightly higher or lower depending on comfort and preference.
Feet
Flat on floor or footrest; legs uncrossed. Legs can move freely under desk.

Centered directly in front; free of glare. Top of screen slightly above eye level.

Close to screen and at same height.
Keyboard
Low enough so arms hang naturally at sides; elbows close to body.

Within easy reach without leaning forward or twisting.
Ambient (Room) Lighting
Ensure the room lighting is reduced if you are exclusively using the computer; provide desk lamps to read hard copy.
Windows
Covered with blinds or coated to reduce amount of light in the room; locate monitor 90 degrees to the windows.
Overhead lights
Free of flicker; covered with diffusers; preferably indirect lighting.
Noise
Ensure normal noise level is maintained at or below normal conversation level.
Room Temperature
Keep the ambient temperature at a comfortable level for you.
Ventilation
Avoid powerful, distasteful smells; maintain adequate air flow.
Head & Neck
Upright and relaxed balanced between shoulders.
